Anna McCarthy nimmt an "Lustige Frauen Kunst" in London teil, kuratiert von Ernst Kaspar Tesaurus

Lustige Frauen Kunst
Ernst Fine Arts, 20 Parade Mews, London SE 27 9 AX
Opening: August 31, 2012, 8 pm

Anna McCarthy participates in the exhibition “Lustige Frauen Kunst” in London where her film "Bored Rebels Going Underground" and her drawings "Bodily Fluids in Full Color" will be shown alongside works by Anna Baker, Bissy Bunder, Maria Guggenbichler, Joke Leonare, Mariann Oppliger & Sophie Hofer, Hank Schmidt in der Beek, Rosalie Schwelker, Annie Whiles and Gillian Wylde.

“Lustige Frauen Kunst” marks a new ground breaking approach to curating humorous critical art. The show will bring together radical positions by emerging and established artists, who work with a broad variety of media, from painting to performance.

The artworks presented in “Lustige Frauen Kunst” challenge visitors’ assumptions about what art is. Directing attention away from our cultural bias that works of art are inherently visual, the exhibition instead emphasizes the ideas behind artworks, the role of visitors’ imagination in responding to art, the process of creating art, and the importance of context and labeling in shaping our understanding of what we see.

The exhibition is curated by Swiss art agent and exhibition maker Ernst Kaspar Tesaurus who – together with his long-term collaborator Hans Ulrich Obrist – has discovered and nurtured leading conceptual artists such as Peter Fischli & David Weiss, Martha Rosler and Ryan Gander.
